running for the hills!

look for all the fun pics in my album! there were way way too many cute ones to include them all!

well, maybe not really running for the hills, but on Monday last week, Trevor decided we really needed to get out of here! so he took Friday off and we left for san diego Thursday night. yay! thanks so very much Cyndi for letting us crash with you guys for the weekend. it was so much fun! Craig loved playing with Emma, getting so much attention from his Aunt Cyndi. and the turtles were so much fun!

Friday, we hung out on the beach. Saturday, we went to a park for a ward picnic and then got free tickets to go see the USS Midway. we spent about 3 hours there! Craig loved walking around. we then went to a delicious Mexican restaurant, Pinata in old town and saw pet kingdom! totally cool! and of course, a treat at Golden Spoon! yummy! Sunday, we went to sacrament meeting and then travelled home! we had pretty good traffic both ways and Craig just got a little anxious about an hour out of vegas.

While at the beach, Craig loved to just jump onto the sand, similar to a belly flop! he loved it though! he did it several times. also, when we went down by the water, he took a handful of sand with him several times. it was so funny! Cyndi and i would crack up over it! we would step in the water and Craig would run back up to the sand. he grabbed a handful of sand and then i could walk him back out by the water. Then, Emma had karate that night, so we left around 3. which was nice, actually, because by then, we were all pretty tired and full of sand.

that night, we just relaxed. Craig had fun looking at the turtles. we all got baths and showers and felt better.

the next morning, we got ready and went to a fun park right by the beach and had a ward picnic/barbeque. after that, around 1, we took off for the U.S.S. Midway and we spent from about 2-5pm there. it was very nice. Trevor and i had already been there, but there were some new things that they had fixed up and had to tour. also, there just isn't enough time to really get everything in. it is always fun going somewhere like this with Trevor because he knows a lot about planes and helped all of us understand things. Craig loved walking around, especially up on the flight deck! he would just walk around jumping on the hooks.

movies

While in California, we took up some bubbles. Craig was having so much fun! He's really good at blwoing on a little toy trumpet, so I knew he'd be good at this too.

This was on our way home from Reno. He just loves to relax.

ASCE conference

We went to Northridge, CA for an engineering conference for Trevor. It was near LA and absolutely beautiful! The weather was perfect according to Trevor and Craig and a little bit chilly the first day according to me. We were able to leave LV on Wednesday night and stay until Sunday. Craig was really good on the trips again. We took our car and had to figure out a way to hang the DVD player (we borrowed from Anita again). It was behind the passenger's seat, but Craig figured out how to reach it and open the disc. He loved hearing the frogs at the start of the Nickelodeon DVDs. (His favorite, Backyardigans) So he was always opening the disc.

Thursday, Craig and I met up with Trevor. Craig and I ended up walking around campus in our stroller for an hour. It was a beautiful campus. There were flowers and grass and trees everywhere (something Vegas lacks). We tried to go through their orange grove on campus, but it was under construction. But we found these beautiful redwood trees and I tried to take some pictures of Craig with them, but it didn't work too well.

That night, we took a magnificent drive down to Santa Monica beach. We took rte 27 (I think) down to the beaches and it was the a fun drive down. The drive back up that road, in the dark, not so fun. A little nauseating. But during the day, gorgeous.

We were able to just walk around on a pier and in the beach a little. It was fun.

Friday, Trevor had the steel bridge competition and Craig and I mostly hung out at the hotel and relaxed walking around a mall.

Saturday, we drove up to Castoic Lagoon (about 40 minutes away) and had the canoe challenges. It was a little chilly to start the day, but the water was wonderful! It started with Craig just walking in it a little, but soon he was soaked up to his belly button and not in his swim suit of course. So we changed, blew bubbles (he loves!) and played in the sand. Then, we went up the steep hill and found a playground to pass more time. Craig had so much fun and loves playing with older kids.

We had such a nice time. Trevor is done for this year with that conference, but probably planning next years and the following conference.

We got to stay at a four star hotel!! We were amazed! All of UNLV stayed at the same place (otherwise we would have had a cheap 1 star hotel) and it was so nice. Trevor took his x-box and when plugging it into the tv, he found a Nintendo DS sitting way behind the tv. We asked the front desk and they said no one reported anything missing. Well, one of the games has a date of usage posted and it hadn't been used since December. Some poor rich kids probably lost their DS and had it replaced already. **Lucky Trevor!

Our Reno Trip

We took a trip up to Reno for Trevor's cousin, Lisa's wedding. We got to drive with Anita and Grandma. And Craig was so GREAT!! He left at 6 on Thursday night and left Sunday at 11. On Thursday, Craig took a little nap from Las Vegas to Beatty (2 hr.), but then woke up from Beatty to Fallon (4 hours) and slept again from Fallon to Reno (2 hour). But he did really good. He was playing with lots of toys and Grandma's flashlight.

We were able to stay with Trevor's Aunt Vicky and Uncle Wayne. We had so much fun! Uncle Wayne and Craig had lots of fun, and then their daughter, Megan, came over and was able to bring her daughters and son. They had the funnest time. Trevor was able to run around and have fun with all of the girls and the boys followed each other around and had fun!

It was a little bit cold the first day, but for the wedding, it was beautiful! The wedding was in a little town, Genoa, outside of Carson City. Craig got a little board, so we drove around the little city (he got a nap, hallelujah!). We saw some really nice cabins they were building and drove around. We saw these deer and went down to get a closer look. There were these four deer and we were probably 15 feet away and they didn't even run away! Trevor and I first saw them, then when Craig woke up, we took him back up to see them and then, when the wedding was all over, we took Anita and Grandma up to see them. And every time the deer were around the same tree and did not run away any of the times!

Well, we had lots of fun and enjoyed getting out of town and taking a road trip. On our way home, Craig decided that he needed both pacifiers in his mouth! He's so silly. He also LOVED watching his Backyardigan movies on Anita's dvd player and having control.
