Our Reno Trip

We took a trip up to Reno for Trevor's cousin, Lisa's wedding. We got to drive with Anita and Grandma. And Craig was so GREAT!! He left at 6 on Thursday night and left Sunday at 11. On Thursday, Craig took a little nap from Las Vegas to Beatty (2 hr.), but then woke up from Beatty to Fallon (4 hours) and slept again from Fallon to Reno (2 hour). But he did really good. He was playing with lots of toys and Grandma's flashlight.

We were able to stay with Trevor's Aunt Vicky and Uncle Wayne. We had so much fun! Uncle Wayne and Craig had lots of fun, and then their daughter, Megan, came over and was able to bring her daughters and son. They had the funnest time. Trevor was able to run around and have fun with all of the girls and the boys followed each other around and had fun!

It was a little bit cold the first day, but for the wedding, it was beautiful! The wedding was in a little town, Genoa, outside of Carson City. Craig got a little board, so we drove around the little city (he got a nap, hallelujah!). We saw some really nice cabins they were building and drove around. We saw these deer and went down to get a closer look. There were these four deer and we were probably 15 feet away and they didn't even run away! Trevor and I first saw them, then when Craig woke up, we took him back up to see them and then, when the wedding was all over, we took Anita and Grandma up to see them. And every time the deer were around the same tree and did not run away any of the times!

Well, we had lots of fun and enjoyed getting out of town and taking a road trip. On our way home, Craig decided that he needed both pacifiers in his mouth! He's so silly. He also LOVED watching his Backyardigan movies on Anita's dvd player and having control.

Random Question

So since i am a dork if I ever post it will be something funny (at least to me) like:

Q:
You're trapped in a well with a goat and a slinky. Describe how you will escape.

My Answer:
I would have to check the structural integrity of the goat horn. Also the non-unit k factor for a spring has to be calculated so that the exact force for the slinky can be calculated. Then carefully break away a stone from inside the well and sharpen it against another stone to create a saw. Use this rock saw to remove the horns from the goat. Carefully tie the horns to the end of the slinky with goat hair and use it as a grappling hook. To do this however, the force of gravity as well as drag forces applied to the grappling hook need to be calculated carefully also the projectile motion of the grappling hook needs to be precise so that the hook doesn't crash into one of the walls before leaving the well. Now with all this information a force balance can be created using drag gravity and the spring force as negatives and the strength of the throw as a positive. If you find the tunnel is too high by the projectile motion calculation or that the k value of the spring is too high you may want to use the goat to kick the hook with its hind legs. But if you do this make sure you have calculated the inertia of the hook also you need to understand momentum and energy transfer calculations or everything may just fall apart. Vector calculus may help as well, but that gets tricky without a pencil and paper. Once the hook is thrown into place outside of the well and well secured stand behind the goat and let it kick you so by its force as well as the tension in the spring you will fly up and out of the well. Again the previous momentum and energy equations apply here. Also make sure that you are on the closest side of the well to where the hook is attached because as you all know torque is equal to distance times force and you don't want a huge moment issue. So this should do it. Unless you are me in which case my mass is quite large and a large enough acceleration wouldn't be able to be applied to move e my 1250 Newtons.

Almost Spring

Well, I am finally able to start our blog. A little about ourselves, Trevor and I have been married a little over two and a half years. We have a fantastic little boy, Craig who is 15 months old. He is so much fun! We are both going to school, at UNLV. Trevor in civil engineering and me in early childhood education. There is hope at the end of the tunnel!

It has been pretty nice weather recently, and Craig is getting old enough, he loves to play outside! He was playing for almost an hour outside. I would just grab some papers to grade and join him out there.

Then, all of my nephews and nieces were at my parents house and he had a blast playing and running around with all of them. It sure was fun.
